Liverpool have marked Jarrod Bowen as a potential target this summer. However, any potential move for the West Ham United star rests on some first-team players leaving the club. Meanwhile, the club is also in talks to offload Harry Wilson to Fulham.
According to The Athletic’s James Pearce, Liverpool have shortlisted Jarrod Bowen in their list of potential targets. The Reds could approach West Ham United with an offer for their star attacker should either Divock Origi or Xherdan Shaqiri leave this summer. While both Origi and Shaqiri have been touted as the likeliest to depart Anfield in the coming weeks, reports linking the pair to other clubs are yet to emerge.
Pearce reports that Bowen’s profile is the one Liverpool are after in the market. The attacker is young and can play across several positions – the latter a trait he shares with the current Liverpool attacking quartet of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, and Roberto Firmino. Furthermore, the Englishman is regarded highly by Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp, meaning that the club will continue to monitor him even if he doesn’t sign this summer.
Bowen joined West Ham from Hull City in January 2019 and has since nailed down a starting spot for himself. The wide attacker scored a single goal in his first half-season at the club but added eight more in his first full campaign. Before his West Ham move, Bowen was one of the best goalscoring attackers in the Championship. The youngster scored 52 goals across three seasons in England’s second division, which, in turn, attracted the Hammers.
Meanwhile, one player who is set to leave Liverpool this summer is Harry Wilson. The Welshman has been out on loan for the last five seasons across several divisions, although he enjoyed his best spell to date at second division side Derby County.
Liverpool are asking Fulham to pay 15 million pounds for Wilson, reports the Athletic. The Cottagers are keen on the wide attacker following their relegation to the Championship, as they look to bounce back to the Premier League.
