Reigning Serie A champions are looking for a replacement for their star full-back Achraf Hakimi, who joined PSG in a 60m move. The Moroccan played a pivotal role in guiding Antonio Conte’s men to their historic domestic title last season.
Internazionale have identified Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin as a primary replacement for Hakimi. They are also interested in Manchester United’s Alex Telles as they look to add depth to the left-flank as well.
When questioned about the signing of Bellerin this summer, the Inter Milan chief Guiseppe Marotta told Sky Italia:
“His is a name that is mentioned by you, there’s our interest, but I won’t go any further, because he’s not our player.”
The Italian also clarified the club’s stance on Telles:
“I won’t rule out anything, but at the moment we are focusing on evaluating all the opportunities without the haste of having to close this or that operation.”
Bellerin, a La Masia product who honed his skills at Arsenal’s academy, has stayed with the Gunners for the last 10 years. However, he was tagged as a player with great potential at the start of his career in the Emirates.
The Spaniard has not lived up to the expectations, as fans often complain about his fluctuating form and lack of consistency. Despite that, he was strongly linked with a move back to Barcelona, and even PSG were interested in him before securing the Hakimi deal.
Bellerin’s special attribute is his ability to outrun defenders at a blistering pace, coupled with his ability to drill in inch-perfect crosses. His attacking mindset suits the Nerazzurri as they will have plenty of defensive cover allowing their wingbacks to bomb forward.
The 26-year-old has guided the Gunners to three FA Cup and as many FA Community Shield titles in his decade long stay at the club. A prospect of joining a top Italian side that suits his play style may surely intrigue the Spaniard.
Coming to Alex Telles, it looks highly unlikely as the Brazilian just joined United from Porto for £15 million in 2020. Although he has had a very disappointing debut campaign, he is confident that he will only get better. Telles has been restricted to a backup role for the in-form Luke Shaw.
