Martin Braithwaite’s potential move to Mallorca appears to be in jeopardy after it was revealed that the Denmark international has asked for a higher salary than he is currently earning at Barcelona.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the striker’s personal wish is to stay at Barcelona because he believes he can contribute significantly if players like Memphis Depay and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave in the coming days.

Barcelona is waiting for an offer to sanction the sale and make room in an already troubled financial structure. The situation is clear to them; Braithwaite must leave.
Mallorca has shown the most interest in him, but the fellow La Liga club may pull out of the deal due to the striker’s excessive salary demand. As of today, everyone involved in the process understands that the Denmark striker needs playing time ahead of the World Cup, but he must lower his demands because Mallorca cannot support his ask.
The 31-year-old continues to insist on a higher salary, and Barcelona may be forced to pay a better half of it, which they would understandably prefer to avoid given that he is no longer in Xavi’s plans. This was evident during the pre-season friendlies when the manager decided to leave him out of the travelling party entirely. However, with a contract in place until 2024, the ball is partially in Dane’s court.
For the time being, Braithwaite is expected to meet with Mallorca manager Javier Aguirre, with whom he played at Leganes between November 2019 and February 2020. But everything is dependent on what he demands at the end.
Other La Liga clubs, including Getafe and Rayo Vallecano, have also expressed interest in Braithwaite. To get the attacker off their books, the Catalan giants have even considered terminating his contract. However, as the summer transfer window comes to an end, RCD Mallorca could provide Barcelona with a way to offload the 31-year-old.
