As the clock ticked down on the international deadline day, the India Super League clubs remained hard at work to get deals over the line.
SC East Bengal remained active in the final days of the window, bringing in players to strengthen a squad that finished third from bottom last season. Robbie Fowler’s side registered five permanent deals on August 31 and brought in four players more on loan from across the league.
Among those who signed permanently for the Red and Gold brigade was Romeo Fernandes; the winger joined the club from FC Goa on a free transfer.
The club also signed Thongkhosiem Haokip, Daniel Gomes, Joyner Laurenco, and Songpu Singsit on permanent deals. In terms of loan arrivals, the biggest names were that of Adil Khan and Jackichand Singh, who signed from Hyderabad and Mumbai City, respectively. Forward Subha Ghosh also completed a temporary move to the team.
“I am delighted to be a part of SC East Bengal. I know how passionate fans are and that is a big motivating factor for me.
I am really looking forward to working with head coach Robbie Fowler. I will try and give my best for the red and gold brigade,”
Khan said upon signing for the Kolkata outfit.
Kerala Blasters completed the signing of Bhutanese international Chencho Gyletshen from Roundglass Punjab.
The attacker rescinded his contract with Punjab and signed for Kerala on a free transfer to mark his return to the ISL, following a short stint in 2018 with Bengaluru FC.
In another high-profile transfer news, FC Goa signed Australian defender Dylan Fox from NorthEast United FC on a one-year deal. Fox helped the Highlanders finish third in the league in the 2020/21 season before the club was knocked out by eventual runners-up Mohun Bagan in the playoff semi-finals.
