According to Football.London, the young goalkeeper is set to land at North London from Sheffield United for a £30 million transfer fee.
The Gunners were in search of a proper backup for Bernd Leno, and Ramsdale would be a perfect fit for Mikel Arteta’s men. Arsenal are hopeful that they will be able to wrap up the deal before they gear up to face Chelsea in the Premier League on August 22.
Ramsdale is yet to agree to personal terms, but the Gunners are confident that they can finalize the deal with the talented English custodian. The deal will see the Gunners paying an initial £24million to the Blades, with the remaining fee spread across the add-ons in the deal.
Following Wednesday’s 4-0 defeat to WBA, Sheffield manager Slavisa Jokanovic has clearly stated that the youngster is on his way out:
“We need to evaluate the situation. We need to check what is best for us now, now that we have lost Aaron.
“Listen, I will repeat one more time, it’s not what I wanted. It is difficult to stop this kind of situation and it’s a huge deal for the club, after being relegated from the Premier League. From my side, he was our best option and we wanted to be working with our best players.”
the Serb told The Star.
Along with Ramsdale, Arteta also wanted to bring in a creative midfielder, and they are closing in on Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard. The Norwegian midfielder impressed everyone at the Emirates Stadium during his six-month loan stint last season.
According to several reports, Los Blancos have set a £34million price tag for the Norway international. There are reports that Odegaard is already in London to conduct his medical before completing the move to Arsenal permanently.
The Gunners have already welcomed players like Ben White, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares this summer.
The Arsenal fans will hope that the new signings will be able to help the club after losing their Premier League opener 2-0 against newly-promoted Brentford.
