Cardiff City midfielder Rubin Colwill, who managed to start just three games last season, was included in the Wales Squad for the Euros 2020.
Robert Page, the caretaker manager of the Wales national football team, in the absence of Ryan Giggs named 19-year-old Rubin Colwill in the 26-man squad for the upcoming UEFA Euro 2020. Colwill has made just six appearances in England’s second-tier competition with just over 190 minutes under his belt. Apparently, this was enough for him to catch the manager’s attention.
He’s been a breath of fresh air since he’s come in,” Wales caretaker manager Robert Page said about Colwill. “He’s really impressed me, he’s got a presence and maybe something we’ve not got in the middle of the park.
He can play off the right, he can play as a 10, he can play in midfield – and that’s a bonus as well when you’re looking to pick a squad.
The uncapped Colwill, who has represented his country at the Under 21 level will join Bale, Ramsey, Ben Davies, Chris Gunter, Danny Ward, Joe Allen, Jonny Williams, and Wayne Hennessey among others in the squad.
Even though Mark Harris, George Thomas, and Tom Lockyer featured in the recent five-day training camp they have failed to make it into the squad.
Wales, who lost 2-0 against Portugal in the semifinals last time will look to get off to a good start. They start their campaign against Switzerland on 12th June at the Baku Olympic Stadium. Prior to this, they play friendlies against France and Albania.
