Mumbai’s current coach, Omkar Salvi, has been appointed as the bowling coach of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ahead of the 2025 Indian Premier League edition.
With the player list for the IPL 2025 mega-auction released last week, the excitement for the upcoming edition is reaching new heights. In an important move, the IPL 2016 finalist has boosted their coaching staff by hiring Omkar Salvi, a big name in the coaching fraternity with an impressive track record. Having a massive experience in the domestic circuit, Salvi is no stranger to the cash-rich league either.
Meanwhile, the 46-year-old cricketer has already served as an assistant bowling coach for defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders. During last year’s campaign, Shreyas Iyer and his men grabbed their third title by defeating Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final showdown. Salvi, being a crucial part of the coaching staff, was involved in their winning campaign.
The 46-year-old cricketer kept himself low profile as far as his coaching jobs are concerned. The former bowler has done a wonderful job with the Mumbai side, leading them to Ranji Trophy and Irani Cup titles recently, and will oversee them in the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament as well.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Omkar Salvi as RCB’s Bowling Coach. With his vast experience, especially in developing fast bowlers, and proven success at the domestic and IPL levels, he’s the perfect fit for our coaching team. Omkar’s technical expertise, local knowledge, and leadership will add huge value to our squad and environment.”
RCB’s director of cricket Mo Bobat said.
