According to Calciomercato.com, Arsenal attacker Reiss Nelson has emerged as a transfer target for AC Milan. Nelson, who has been with the Gunners since he was nine, has progressed through the youth ranks and into the senior squad, where he has seven goals and seven assists in 61 appearances.
The 23-year-old has spent time on loan with Hoffenheim and Feyenoord in recent years, but he has been named to Arsenal’s squad for the 2022-23 season. Nelson has only made 13 appearances this season, but he has contributed three goals and three assists.
Despite his strong attachment to the North London club, the Englishman’s future at the Emirates Stadium could be in jeopardy. The Arsenal academy graduate’s contract expires at the end of the season, and a new deal has yet to be agreed upon.
As things stand, Nelson will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season, which has piqued the interest of the Rossoneri. As per Football Italia, AC Milan are interested in bringing Nelson to Italy if he does not extend his contract with Arsenal.
Due to the uncertainty surrounding their current wide men, Stefano Pioli’s side is expected to sign a winger in the summer transfer window. Rafael Leao’s contract is coming to an end, and he has been linked with a move away from San Siro this summer.
AC Milan are also concerned about Ante Rebic and Charles De Ketelaere’s form, both of whom have struggled in front of goal this season. Rebic has only scored three goals in 29 games this season, while De Ketelaere has yet to score for the Rossoneri since joining from Club Brugge last summer.
Nelson, who is said to want to stay at Arsenal, will be focused on assisting the Premier League leaders in their title defence. The Gunners are currently atop of the Premier League standings with 75 points from 33 games.
However, second-placed Manchester City are just two points behind them while also having a game in hand. Should the Citizens win their one game in hand then they will go top of the points chart by a solitary point.
