The Gunners are prepared for a busy summer with a striker and a central midfielder among the top priorities in the transfer market. The club are targeting Gianluca Scamacca for the former and Youri Tielemans for the latter if the reports are to be believed.
Arsenal’s striker hunt has taken them to Italy, where they have identified Sassuolo’s breakout star – and now a fully-fledged Italy international – Gianluca Scamacca as a potential solution to their problems upfront.
However, the 23-year-old has attracted interest from clubs elsewhere, too, as was confirmed by the club’s chief executive Giovanni Carnevali.
“There’s nothing concrete yet for Scamacca, just some contacts with some clubs. Of course, after playing with the national team the interest is now growing,”
he said.
As per 90MIN, Arsenal have established their interest in the striker through intermediaries. The Gunners are prepared to move for the youngster, who, it is believed, is valued by the Italian side in the region of 35 million pounds.
Scamacca returned to Sassuolo in the summer of 2021 following a season-long loan spell at Genoa. He repaid the Neroverdi, who had to ship out stalwart Francesco Caputo to make room for him, by scoring 16 goals in 36 Serie A games.
Furthermore, 90MIN claim that Arsenal are also proceeding with their interest in Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans. The Belgian will be out of contract in 2023 and has refused to negotiate fresh terms with the Foxes, leaving them with a crucial decision to make – they could either sell him this summer or risk losing him for nothing a year later.
As per the report, Arsenal are in contact with the player’s representatives, while the player himself is keen to facilitate a move to the Emirates. However, they are yet to agree on a fee with the Foxes.
Arsenal would like to keep the remuneration below 25 million given the midfielder’s contract situation, whereas the player’s current club are likely to demand a fee in the region of 30 million.
Tielemans joined Leicester City from AS Monaco, first in January 2019 on a half-a-season-long loan deal and then permanently. In his three-and-a-half years at the club, he has made 158 appearances and scored 24 goals – including the one that won them the 2020/21 FA Cup.
