The Reds have made Fabio Carvalho’s signing permanent and the Fulham midfielder will move to the Anfield Stadium on July 1. The 19-year-old will join the club for a reported fee of 8 million pounds.
Liverpool winger Harvey Elliott has called the Portuguese wonderkid ‘world class’ and has backed him to hit the ground running when he makes the move to the Anfield this season.
While Elliott has advocated for hype and excitement, several people in the club’s headquarters believes that the signing of Carvalho is one for the future and that he must be nurtured and groomed properly.
However, given the season that he has had with Fulham, it won’t be surprising to see him making an instant impact if given a chance in the first team.
Elliott is well aware of Carvalho’s talents and abilities. He spent several years training with him in the Cottagers youth academy before joining Jurgen Klopp’s side himself nearly three years ago. The winger is looking forward to getting reunited with his former teammate and expects him to surprise a lot of people despite having made only four Premier League appearances so far in his career.
“Fabio’s a great kid as well as a great player, so I don’t need to say too much on him. I’m sure he’ll show you very quickly why Liverpool have signed him. He’s a class player and I think he’ll bring that flair to this team, that sort of young power in a way.
He’s one for the future, definitely. To be able to link up and reunite with him, and to hopefully play with him on the same pitch like the old days, it’ll be great,”
Elliott told This Is Anfield.
Liverpool had almost signed him in the January transfer window but couldn’t complete the deal before the deadline. Carvalho had already agreed personal terms with the club and had also passed his medical.
He will be joining Klopp’s side after a breakthrough season with Fulham in the second division of English football. He scored 10 goals and recorded eight assists as the Cottagers won the second-tier title and earned promotion to the Premier League.
