In an interview with the Evening Standard, Arsenal full-back Cedric Soares has highlighted how he has been impressed by Brazilian attacker Gabriel Martinelli. The defender stated that Martinelli has a tendency to attack space in a similar manner as his national compatriot Cristiano.
“Gabi has this aim for goal. He likes to attack the space, like Cristiano [Ronaldo]. He likes to score goals, like everyone does. But Gabi has this willingness to fight. Even when he doesn’t play, he keeps working the same way.
He is an easy young kid to talk with. You talk and you can see he listens to you. He’s talented but the way he works is fantastic,”
said Soares.
Martinelli has attracted plenty of plaudits for his performances with Arsenal so far this season. He has scored five goals in 19 matches. The entire bunch of youngsters under Mikel Arteta are aiming for a return to the Champions League for the first time in five seasons and Soares hopes that the Brazilian forward can help them in their ambitions.
Soares has appeared in 12 matches for Portugal in the right-back position and was also a part of the team that won the Euro 2016.
The 30-year-old was signed by Arsenal in 2020 and Soares has heavily praised the changes that the Spaniard has brought about at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal finished eighth in the Premier League last season but with the help of a few new signings in the summer, they look like a completely revitalized team.
Soares was also full of praise for Arteta. He said that Arteta is the most complete coach in every aspect and likes to work on every minute detail. Arteta makes sure that the process is clear for everyone in the team and Soares says that is exactly what sets him apart from other coaches out there. All suggestionsNothing can stop you now!
