An unnamed Premier League footballer is said to have been arrested after attacking his girlfriend. According to The Sun, she called the police to inform them about it, following which he was swooped up from his home. His identity remains obscure for the time being as we await further developments.
The said footballer was tipped to be representing his country soon but was picked up by the police after his girlfriend called to inform them about his attacks on her. He is also said to have sent her abusive late night text messages. The player had hired lawyers, who had agreed over a five-figure sum as a payout to her in an out of court settlement.
This shocking revelation arrives only a few weeks after Manchester United ace Mason Greenwood was arrested over suspicion of rape, assault and threats to kill after his girlfriend released pictures and voice notes of his abusive attacks on her online.

“This is quite disturbing, especially coming after the claims about Greenwood. In this case, the footballer used his money to get lawyers to sort it out for him and keep it out of the public eye.
He reached a settlement and that has effectively silenced the girl in question and stopped court action. Her claims were very serious, and included at least one allegation of domestic assault,”
a source close to the story was quoted as saying by The Sun.
Although police confirmed that they were called to the scene, they did not pursue further action after a ‘community resolution’ had been agreed upon. Due to legal reasons, the star footballer cannot be named but he was arrested in 2019 and is no longer in a relationship with the victim.
Teresa Parker, the founder of the Football United against Domestic Violence campaign, voiced her concerns regarding how the star players use money to make their legal problems disappear as cases of violence and domestic abuse against women continue to climb.
She asserted how players manage to get away with such grave crimes just because they have significant power and money. Rather than bringing such culprits out in the open, allegations against them are seen as issues to be managed.
“As in this case, what can happen is that every effort is taken to make what is seen as a problem go away. All football clubs and organizations need to have domestic abuse policies, to ensure they do not become the enablers and excusers of men who abuse their partners,”
Parker said.
