Bruno Guimaraes’s anticipated departure to Newcastle United could force a continent-wide transfer carousel with Tottenham, Lyon, Juventus, and Aston Villa all on the lookout for recruits ahead of Monday’s deadline.
The Magpies have agreed to pay Olympique Lyonnais a 42.5 million euros fee – rising up to 50.5 million after add-ons – to complete the signing of midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, reports Fabrizio Romano. The Brazilian will undergo his medical while on international duty – before completing a transfer to the Premier League strugglers.
Guimaraes’s anticipated move to Newcastle could initiate a continent-wide game of transfer dominoes ahead of Monday’s deadline day; Lyon are one of many clubs looking to recruit in midfield and have identified alternatives at Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus, who, in turn, are also monitoring players with the intentions of signing one if the need arises before February 1.
As reported by The Athletic, Lyon are keen on Spurs midfielder Giovani Lo Celso. The Argentine looks to be on his way out after he was dropped by manager Antonio Conte from his latest matchday squad.
However, he is one of many options the Ligue 1 side is observing, another being Rodrigo Bentancur, who is one of the players Juve are open to cashing in on during this window after signing Dusan Vlahovic for 75 million euros.

However, the Ligue 1 side face competition from Aston Villa for Bentancur, while – as per Gianluca Di Marzio – Spurs, too, have entered the race for the player in the last hours.
Meanwhile, should Juventus succeed in selling Bentancur before the deadline, they will move forward with their attempts to sign Swiss midfielder Denis Zakaria from Borussia Monchengladbach; the Bianconeri are linked with a 7 million euros move for the 25-year-old, whose contract is due to expire next summer.
According to The Guardian, Tottenham are looking to replace Lo Celso – and, potentially, both Tanguy Ndombele and Dele Alli – with Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat.
The North London outfit is also in talks with Juventus over loaning attacker Dejan Kulusevski for the remainder of the season, after losing out on Luis Diaz (Porto) to Liverpool and Adama Traore (Wolverhampton) to Barcelona.
