In what was yet another triple panga day in the Vivo Pro Kabaddi season 8, Dabangg Delhi KC returned to winning ways against Haryana Steelers in the first game of the day. The team was being led by a new captain, Manjeet Chillar.
Dabang Delhi defeated Haryana Steelers by 28-25 in what turned out to be yet another thrilling encounter as the teams were almost inseparable going into the last minute.
Vijay’s last two raids in the last minute turned out to be match changing raids as he brought five points for Dabang Delhi including a super raid in his last raid of the game. He stepped up for Delhi with his Super 10 after Naveen Kumar got injured in the second half of the game.
Till the time he was on the mat, Naveen couldn’t do much as he was tackled by five different Haryana’s defenders and subsequently scored just five raid points.
Haryana’s Vikas Khandola couldn’t do much in the raiding department as he could only get three raid points, Meetu and Vinay scored five and four, respectively, but it wasn’t enough for the Steelers. Overall, Dabang Delhi outscored them in the raiding department by 19-15.
In defence, Manjeet seemed to get his form back as he got three tackle points to be the most successful defender for Delhi. Jaideep, Surendra Nada and Ravi Kumar got two tackle points each, but that wasn’t enough to snatch victory from DD.
Titans remain winless after UP Yoddha defeat
UP Yoddha won just the third game of the season as they beat Telugu Titans by 39-33 in the 2nd game of the day. TT, meanwhile, are still looking for their first win of the season.
Pardeep Narwal scored his third Super 10 of the season and was ably supported by Surendra Gill and Srikant Jhadhav, who scored seven and five raid points, respectively.
Titans loss could be attributed to the fact that they could not inflict an all-out to UP Yoddhas in the last few minutes. Firstly Nitesh saved Yoddhas from getting all out in defence, and then Pardeep saved the side from getting all out three times in a row.
Titans were not far behind in terms of raid points as they scored 21 raid points in comparison to Yoddhas’ 22. Rajneesh was the most successful raider for the Titans with nine raid points.
Titans defence didn’t perform well as Yoddhas outscored them 15-11 in that department. Although Prince was the most successful defender for Titans, his unsuccessful tackle attempts ensured Yoddhas didn’t get an all out. For UP Yoddha, Nitesh was the most successful defender with 7 points as he was involved in two super tackles.
U Mumba stage last-gasp comeback vs Bengal Warriors
In the third match of the day, U Mumba made a stunning comeback in the last minute of the game to play their fourth tie of the season against Bengal Warriors. The Warriors were leading 32-28 going into the last minute of the game, but Mumba first ousted Maninder Singh in his raid and then Abhishek got quick raid points in the last 50 seconds of the match.
Maninder was the only raider from the Warriors with raid points. He brought up his eighth consecutive Super 10 (17 raid points). Abhishek top-scored for U Mumba with 13 raid points.
U Mumba scored more raid points than Warriors, 22 as compared to Bengal’s 17, but Bengal outscored them in tackle points. Abozar was the most successful defender for the Warriors with three tackle points. His Iranian counterpart and Mumba’s captain Fazel earned three tackle points as well.
With this tie, Warriors have jumped up a place and now are standing at the eighth place on the table, and Mumba moved up to sixth.
