As per the Telegraph, Newcastle target Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The Magpies are currently in the process of major squad overhauls, including the first team manager; the club sacked Steve Bruce on the morning of October 20, after a week of speculation.
Despite there being no manager in place at Newcastle, at the moment, the club continues to be linked with players. Calvert-Lewin becomes the latest star to be linked with a transfer to the Tyneside club, following their mega-money takeover earlier this month.
The forward has risen from a peripheral figure to Everton’s key man in attack, subsequently earning his senior international caps and a place in England’s Euro 2020 squad. Last season was his most prolific for the Toffees, as he scored 21 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions.
Real Marid have also been linked with a move for the 24-year-old, who has a contract at Goodison Park until 2025.
In other news, journalist Ekrem Konur believes that United are also targeting Fenerbahce pair Mesut Ozil and Altay Bayindir. The former, an attacking midfielder, has prior experience of playing in the Premier League for Arsenal, whom he joined from Real Madrid in 2013.
The German completed seven-and-a-half years with the Gunners before leaving the club on a free transfer in January 2021 to Fenerbahce. Ozil played over 250 competitive games for the North London side, scoring 54 goals.
Bayindir is considered to be one of Europe’s most prominent young goalkeepers. The 23-year-old went through several clubs during his academy years but found a home at Ankaragucu eventually. He represented the Ankara-based club for three years before securing a move to one of Turkey’s ‘Big Three’ clubs.
Bayindir continues to be linked with several top European clubs following impressive performances for Fenerbahce – which also earned him his first international caps in 2021.
