Mustafizur Rahman will feature for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL after being given the NOC by the Bangladesh Cricket Board. The Royals picked up the pacer at his base price of INR 1 crore during the latest auction.
Some good news for Mustafizur Rahman as well as the Rajasthan Royals as their fast bowler was handed a NOC by the BCB to play in IPL 2021. With English seamer Jofra Archer set to miss out on the IPL after injuring his elbow in the recent series against India, the Royals will look to Rahman to provide them with that much-needed inspiration.
They will also hope that he can be the star bowler that picks early wickets for them and closes games with precise bowling as well.
The pacer has picked up 24 wickets in as many games in 3 seasons for the IPL before for Sunrisers Hyderabad (2016-17) and Mumbai Indians (2018).
The BCB stated that since Rahman is not a part of the BCB’s Test plans for the Sri Lanka tour scheduled for next month, he should play the tournament.
We have given him NOC for IPL as he is not in our Test plans for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. It’s better if he plays there and gains some experience.
said BCB’s chief selector Minhajul Abedin.
Rahman insisted that he would always prefer playing for his country first if given a choice and that he was ready to skip the IPL if needed.
My first priority is to play for my country and if I am picked in the Test series against Sri Lanka, I will naturally play. If I am not picked then BCB will tell me that I am not included. At that point, if I am given NOC to play in the IPL then I will play but patriotism comes first for me,
said Mustafizur.
Another Bangladesh player given the NOC is Shakib Al Hasan. He will play for the Kolkata Knight Riders after being picked up at INR 3.2 crores in the auction.
