Two of the Premier League’s big six are on the hunt for new wingers. While Liverpool have identified Rennes’ Jeremy Doku as their target of choice, Arsenal have turned their attention towards Club Brugge’s Noa Lang.
The Reds are well-positioned to sign Stade Rennais’ promising winger Jeremy Doku. The Belgian previously popped up on the Reds’ radar while he was breaking out at Anderlecht, but he decided to continue his development away from the noise in France.
The 19-year-old is expected to leave Rennes next year – as per RTL – with Liverpool leading the chase for the attacker.
The report claims that Liverpool could make a move for the young Belgian after the turn of the year. Jurgen Klopp’s side are expected to be without Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane for a few weeks in January due to the African Cup of Nations, and thus will need cover in the attacking positions.
Minus the pair, the German has Roberto Firmino, Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi, and Diogo Jota in those positions.
Nonetheless, Liverpool will have to pay a premium fee to price Doku away from Rennes, who themselves paid 26 million euros to Anderlecht for his services in 2020. In his first season at the club, Doku played 37 games and scored two goals.
Arsenal’s search has led them to Belgium and towards Club Brugge’s Noa Lang. A graduate of the Ajax academy, Lang has forged his own path in Belgium and is currently a part of the Netherlands’ senior set-up.
According to Voetbal24, Arsenal are challenging AC Milan for the signing of Lang, who is expected to cost either club in the region of 30 million euros.
The youngster has become a key part of Brugge’s Champions League squad and popped up on many fans’ radar following his impressive display against Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the season.
Furthermore, the 22-year-old achieved an almost talismanic nature for Brugge last season, when his 16 league goals led them to the league title. He finished the season with 17 goals across all competitions and eight assists, and he was rewarded with a call-up to the Oranje senior team subsequently.
