Windies have won in the last game of the 3-match series on the back of a brilliant bowling performance led by Karishma Ramharack and Aaliyah Alleyne.
South Africa were batting first, just like they have done throughout this series. However, they failed to reach the highs of the 2nd T20 as they could score just 80 runs.
Aaliyah Alleyne was sensational during the powerplay overs as she sent Lizelle Lee and Marizanne Kapp back to the dressing room. SAW skipper Dane van Niekerk was dismissed for a golden duck.
All-rounder Sune Luus was the only batter who made any notable addition to the score with her 23. Karishma Ramharack ran riot during the second half of the innings as she picked up three wickets for just eight runs.
The total required to win the match was a well-below par 81. Diandra Dottin (31 off 21) and Kyshona Knight (26 off 27) put 53 runs for the 2nd wicket partnership, and there was no coming back for South Africa W.
Dane van Niekerk inspired her side by picking up a few back to back wickets after Dottin. Knight’s partnership was broken, but the total was just too low for them to think about saving the match from thereon. West Indies ended up winning the match with 8.1 overs left and five wickets to spare.
As the first T20 was abandoned due to rain, the series ends in a draw, with both teams winning one game each. The 5-match ODI series will start on Tuesday in Antigua, and both sides will look to carry over the same competitive spirit to the longer format of the game.
