Borussia Dortmund returned to winning ways by beating TSG Hoffenheim 3-2. Marco Rose’s men had surprisingly lost their previous game in the league to Freiburg, and they looked to have dropped the points yet again against Hoffenheim until Haaland stepped up to score the winner.

The Norwegian scored in the first minute of second-half stoppage time to restore Dortmund’s lead after Gio Reyna and Jude Bellingham had their strikes cancelled out in the second half.

No Romelu Lukaku, no problem – or so it seems in the early weeks of the new Serie A season for reigning champions. Despite losing Achraf Hakimi, Lukaku and Antonio Conte over the summer, Inter Milan recorded their second successive win of the season, thanks, once again, to a new signing.

Inter fell behind fifteen minutes into their match against Hellas Verona. 20-year-old Ivan Ilic, formerly of Manchester City, gave them the lead through a goal entirely of his own making. The Serbian intercepted a pass from Samir Handanovic to Marcelo Brozovic before lifting the ball over the goalkeeper.

Simone Inzaghi’s men came roaring back into the game after the interval and levelled the scores in the 47th minute through Lautaro Martinez; the Argentine headed the ball past the opposing goalkeeper following a long throw.

Argentine striker Joaquin Correa, who joined Inter from Lazio, came off the bench in the 74th minute to score twice in the second half – 83′ and 90+4′, respectively – to help seal a 3-1 win over Hellas Verona.
