Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham has reportedly spoken to Lionel Messi about a future move to join Inter Miami once his current contract with Paris Saint-Germain runs out.
There has been a lot of talk regarding Messi’s move to the USA. It was also reported that the Argentine has plans of featuring in the MLS before hanging up his boots.
According to the Mirror, the six-time Ballon d’Or winner has been in touch with Beckham, and therefore a move to Inter Miami is very possible after his contract with PSG runs out in two or three years.
Beckham who co-owns MLS outfit Inter Miami always had the ambition to rope in a big name. The former England international is also keeping his tabs on Cristiano Ronaldo and his situation at Juventus, but Messi remains at the top of his priority list.
Co-owner Jorge Mas also wants to rope in the Argentine in the next few years:
“I am optimistic Messi will play in an Inter Miami shirt because I think it will complete the legacy of the greatest player in our generation and will meet with the ambitions of the owners of Inter Miami to build a world-class team,”
“David (Beckham) and I have been working really hard, we have aspirations of bringing the best players here and Messi is a generational player, arguably the best player of all time.”
Messi is currently focused on helping PSG regain the Ligue 1 title from LOSC Lille and also bag their maiden Champions League. The Parisians have strung a solid side, and apart from him, they have signed players Gianluigi Donnarumma, Giorginio Wijnaldum, Achraf Hakimi and Sergio Ramos this summer.
Messi left Barca on August 10 after 21 years of association with the club. He had a very emotional farewell as he did not anticipate that his saga at the Camp Nou would end this way.
