Arsenal are set for a massive summer overhaul if reports are to be believed. The Gunners are targeting reinforcements all over the pitch and are hoping to sign as many as six players. Converting Martin Odegaard’s loan deal into a permanent one remains a priority.
The Athletic reports of Arsenal’s interest in strengthening as many as six positions this summer. The Gunners are prepared for a massive squad overhaul, prompted by manager Mikel Arteta, who called for the club to be “ruthless” in the market. The report, as such, claims that the North London outfit is looking for several key first-team players, as well as backups for some of the better-filled positions.
Martin Odegaard remains a priority for Arsenal, reports The Athletic. The Norwegian has impressed in his half-a-season at the Emirates and the club is hoping to convert his loan deal from Real Madrid into a permanent transfer. However, should the transfer not come through, the Gunners will turn their attention towards Norwich City’s Emiliano Buendia.
Arsenal are also looking to strengthen in central defense despite William Saliba returning from his loan spell at Nice. Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba is a rumored target of the Gunners, who recently announced the departure of David Luiz from the club. Arsenal are also hoping to sign a reserve goalkeeper with Brentford’s David Raya and Newcastle United’s Freddie Woodman two options. However, the club could be forced to look for a new number one should Bernd Leno decide to leave this summer.
Mikel Arteta also wants reinforcements in both the left-back and the right-back departments. Kieran Tierney happens to be the only natural left-back at the club presently, with the Gunners loaning Sead Kolasinac to Schalke. Meanwhile, they could be forced to sign a new right-back with Hector Bellerin linked with a move to Spain.
Arsenal could also make a move for either Yves Bissouma or Sander Berge for the central midfield spot, reports The Athletic. Granit Xhaka, on the other hand, could leave the club after being linked with Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma.
