Paris Saint-Germain have had a huge boost to their Champions League dreams as they added Sergio Ramos to their squad. The experienced Spanish defender has led Real Madrid to several European titles and now will hope to replicate that with the French giants. Ramos, however, feels that the Parisians are very close to their maiden Champions League glory.
Although the Parisians have reached the finals of the European competition, they came out second best against Bayern Munich. Despite a lot of investment, the club has failed to break the hoodoo of winning the European title. Therefore some people feel that Ramos will guide the team to their maiden Champions League glory as he has great experience of winning it as a captain.
Ramos has won four Champions League trophies in his 16-year-long association with Real Madrid. The veteran Spaniard is very hopeful that he can lead PSG to their maiden European title very soon. He feels that the squad is ready to win, and they have all the qualities required, they just need to implement the ideas properly in the upcoming season.
“What I noticed the most about this club is its strength. The thirst for winning that the players have. They want to come to a club like this.
“They have already played in the Champions League final, they are very close to being able to win it and that is something that attracts me. It can only be a perfect marriage.
“If I can contribute to it, that would be wonderful for me. It is a dream to think about win my fifth Champions League and the first for our club.”
he told PSG TV.
PSG had a rough last season where they failed to win the Ligue 1 title and were knocked out from the semifinals of the Champions League by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. Hence they decided to go all guns blazing in the transfer market. They have already signed players like Achraf Hakimi from Inter Milan. Georginio Wijnaldum also joined the French capital after his contract expired with Liverpool. The biggest signing was by far snapping up Ramos from Real Madrid.
The French giants want supremacy in France, and also in Europe and with Ramos’ arrival, they feel that they have the ideal player with the right mentality. This summer, PSG is still chasing after a few players and will be a firm favourite for the Champions League title.
