Leicester City are closing in on the signing of free agent Ryan Bertrand, Goal reports. Bertrand has been of interest to Arsenal in the past, who have been searching for a backup to Kieran Tierney. However, he is likely to be one of three players announced by the Foxes in the coming days.
The Gunners, however, are expected to lose the race. Nevertheless, their fans should be treated with good news soon, with Tierney finalizing a new long-term contract at the club. The search for Tierney’s backup is likely to continue this summer, the Scotland international currently the only natural left-back at the club.
Leicester have already been quite active in the market. Bertrand will reportedly be one of the three new players they announce in the coming days. Reports as far back as April confirm that the Foxes have signed Boubakary Soumare from Ligue 1 champions Lille with an official confirmation due.
Brendan Rodgers’ side has also reportedly won the race for RB Salzburg sensation Patson Daka and have shown interest in Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard, who is also a rumoured target for Arsenal.
Leicester’s transfer run-ins with Arsenal are expected to continue throughout the summer, especially since the Gunners are keen on one of the Foxes’ star players – James Maddison. Mikel Arteta’s team has reportedly turned their attention towards the Englishman after being snubbed by Emiliano Buendia and Martin Odegaard. Nevertheless, Arsenal are closing in on a couple of signings, with Brighton’s Ben White and Anderlecht’s Albert Sambi Lokonga expected to sign for the club.
