Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of midfielder Renato Sanches on a long-term contract. The 25-year-old becomes PSG’s fourth signing of the season; the club is eyeing three more additions before the window’s end.
Sanches has signed a five-year contract with PSG, which will run until the end of the 2026/27 season. In Paris, he will reunite with former Lille head coach Christophe Galtier and sporting director Luis Campos, the latter the one responsible for bringing him to France in the first place.
“I’m really happy to have arrived here in Paris,”
Sanches said in his first interview with the Parisian club.
“These last few days have been really important for me and for my family. I’m sure that I’ve made the right choice by signing for the club. I chose Paris Saint-Germain because I think that it’s the best project for me. Staying in France was important to me, as I know this league already.”
The Portugal international helped Lille pip the Parisians to the league title in 2020/21, a year after he joined the club on a permanent transfer from Bayern Munich.
Sanches became PSG’s fourth signing of the season, following the arrivals of Vitinha, Hugo Ekitike, and Nordi Mukiele. However, Galtier wants further additions to the squad, and as per reports, Campos is working on making three additions before the transfer window shuts in three weeks.
Galtier confirmed plans to do the same; Paris, as is reported, are eyeing a defender, a midfielder, and another striker.
“We’re not here to stockpile players, I want a certain number of players in my squad, players who are close to each other in terms of their level, to be able to perform across the season and create a healthy level of competition,”
Galtier said.
PSG began their domestic season by beating Nantes in the Trophee des Champions earlier this week. Their league campaign gets underway on August 6 against Clermont Foot 63.
