Manchester United has agreed a loan deal with Newcastle for goalkeeper Martin Dubravka worth 2 million pounds, subject to registration. The 33-year-old joins United after four years at Newcastle, where he arrived in 2018 from Czech First League side Sparta Prague.
United’s option over his permanent stay, which will cost an additional 6 million, will become mandatory based on the number of appearances he makes for the club.
The Magpies also has a recall option that they can use in January if necessary. The Slovakia international informed Newcastle earlier this week that he intended to leave the club and join Manchester United.
Following the arrival of Nick Pope, Dubravka had been pushed down the pecking order at St James’ Park. After Dean Henderson joined Nottingham Forest on loan, United were looking for a goalkeeper to compete with David de Gea and Tom Heaton.

Before settling on the Newcastle stopper, United scouted a number of other goalkeepers, including Yann Sommer of Borussia Monchengladbach.
Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp revealed on Thursday that he had received and turned down an offer to join Manchester United, instead choosing to stay with the Europa League champions, who are competing in the Champions League this season.
“There was a lot of talk in the past days about an interest from Manchester United. It is correct that I have a written offer.
“Manchester United are a world-class team and that I consider it and think about it is something, I am sure, everyone can understand. Yesterday, however, I informed both clubs that I decided for Eintracht,”
the German said on social media.
United were defeated by Brentford last month due to de Gea’s errors, but there are also questions about whether he is a good fit for ten Hag’s style of play.
