Manchester United’s move for French midfielder Adrien Rabiot has failed to materialize due to disagreements regarding personal terms, says The Athletic. There was a considerable gap between the player’s demands and what the club was willing to offer, and, failing to reach a compromise, the two parties decided to stall negotiations for the time being.
While a late-window transfer cannot be ruled out, according to the report, the Red Devils have shifted their attention toward the alternatives, one of which is Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro. The Brazilian is a crucial player for Los Blancos, but Marca claims that neither the club nor the player has completely ruled out the possibility of a switch to Old Trafford until now.
As per Andy Mitten, United are interested in signing Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic, albeit on a temporary loan deal. The USMNT international has lost his place in the Chelsea squad and is currently behind Kai Havertz, Raheem Sterling, and Mason Mount in the pecking order.
Pulisic wants to add minutes ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and is interested in a switch to United – with the Blues open to offers for the American. However, the club faces competition from Newcastle, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid for the 23-year-old, who joined Chelsea in the summer of 2019 from Borussia Dortmund in a 58 million pound deal.
Finally, in search of a backup option for David de Gea, Manchester United have turned their gaze toward Borussia Monchengladbach’s Yann Sommer. The Red Devils have shortlisted the Swiss international as one of three alternatives, but he also has a contract offer on the table from his current club, who nearly lost him to OGC Nice earlier in the window.
