Bayern Munich will pay striker Jann-Fiete Arp a small compensation to end his contract early and leave the club this summer, reports German media outlet Bild. Ther German joined the Bavarians as a prospect from his boyhood Hamburg SV in 2019.
The 22-year-old failed to break into the first team and was usually left stuck in the reserve side, two divisions below. A loan to 2. Bundesliga side Holstein Kiel for the 2021/22 season did little to increase his stock – Arp scored thrice in 26 games. As a result, the Bundesliga champions have decided to void his contract a year before it expires officially.
Reportedly Arp was a high earner at Bayern despite only ever making one appearance for the senior side over two seasons – a cup appearance in 2020/21. The youngster earned 5 million euros a year for three years, two of which he spent with Bayern Munich II and one with Kiel. To break the contract, the Bavarians will pay the youngster a 3 million compensation fee, following which he will become a free agent.
Arp will follow Corentin Tolisso and Marc Roca out of the Allianz Arena. The former left the club upon contract expiry at the end of the previous season, while the latter is nearing a move to Premier League side Leeds United. Additionally, Bayern lost centre-back Niklas Sule to rivals Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer.
The club remain uncertain over the future of striker Robert Lewandowski, who has publicly expressed his desire to leave the club after almost a decade.

However, the Bundesliga champions have added to their squad too. Noussair Mazraoui joined the club on a free transfer after his contract with Ajax came to an end. His former teammate Ryan Gravenberch was announced as a Bayern player earlier this week after an 18 million euros fee was agreed between the clubs.
