Following in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, a former forward for Liverpool, has been connected to a move to Saudi Arabia. In January, more than a month after his Manchester United contract expired, Ronaldo signed with Al-Nassr FC.
Since the superstar Portuguese player moved, the Saudi Pro League has drawn more attention from around the world. Now, the Saudi Arabian government wants to capitalise on this notoriety. BILD reports that they have a list of 20 stars they want to sign in the summer, according to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs. Sadio Mane, a forward for Bayern Munich, is among the names on the list.
If the Senegalese forward does sign, the Saudi Arabian government has not yet decided which club he will play for. For marketing and competitive reasons, they’ll try to distribute marquee acquisitions among several elite clubs.
Bayern Munich, according to BILD, will allow Mane to leave in the summer following his unsuccessful campaign. In 37 games across competitions since moving to the German club from Liverpool for more than €32 million last summer, he has contributed 12 goals and six assists.
It’s important to remember that he and teammate Leroy Sane got into a fight earlier this year. Additionally, according to Sky Sports, Bayern is willing to sell the Senegalese forward this summer.
He might relocate to Saudi Arabia in the summer, much like Ronaldo did. In 17 games across competitions for Al-Nassr, the Portuguese has scored 13 goals and contributed two assists.
After eight years, Mane left Liverpool to join Bayern last summer. He participated in 269 games for the Reds and helped the team win multiple awards while scoring 120 goals and providing 48 assists. The forward’s departure from the team surprised a lot of people.
