AS Roma forward Tammy Abraham has dropped a hint that he might join Liverpool this transfer window after being caught on camera telling his English teammate Trend Alexander-Arnold that he is “joining you next season”.
The 24-year-old and the Liverpool full-back were preparing for England’s trip to Hungary for their UEFA Nations League game when he made the comments. As per the video shared by England’s official YouTube channel, the Liverpool defender, during a training session, played the decisive ball in a small-sided victory for his blue team.
Abraham, who was on the losing side in red, then approached Alexander-Arnold and shaking his hand said:
“Trent, good luck, I’m joining you guys next season.”
And this has prompted Liverpool fans to speculate over a possible move for Abraham this summer. Although, it will be unlikely for the Reds to target the Chelsea youth product given his profile, however with the possible departures in attack, it is still possible that he might be considered.
It is very evident that Sadio Mane is pushing for his transfer to Bayern Munich while Divock Origi is set to join AC Milan on a Bosman transfer. There are also reports that the Reds might be tempted to sell Takumi Minamino if the right offer comes for the Japanese.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino are heading into their final years of the contract leaving Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota as the only senior attackers tied down to long-term deals.
Liverpool, however, are not the only Premier League club interested in Abraham, with both Manchester clubs interested in the striker alongside Chelsea. Of the four, the interest from United seems to be more serious, given Red Devils are preparing for a mass exodus of forwards this summer.
With Edinson Cavani all set to leave the club this summer, there have been reports that Cristiano Ronaldo could also decide to leave Old Trafford after their failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Anthony Martial, who is currently on loan at Sevilla, could permanently depart, while Marcus Rashford has also made it clear that he wants to leave the club to gain more game time.
The player has been a revelation since joining Roma from Chelsea in a 34 million pounds deal last summer, scoring 27 goals and assisting five in 53 appearances across all competitions for Jose Mourinho’s side. Such has been his impact in Italy that to fend off any potential advances, Roma are set to demand a mammoth 100 million for the 24-year-old.
