Spurs forward Harry Kane has been named Premier League’s Player of the Month for March 2022. In doing so, the England international has reached level with ex-Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero for most wins in this particular competition – both strikers currently have seven awards to their name.
Kane scored four times in March and provided two assists, which was enough for the panel to pick him ahead of the likes of Kai Havertz (Chelsea) and Bukayo Saka (Arsenal).
Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah, Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson, Aston Villa’s Matty Cash, Brentford’s Ivan Toney, and Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski were also nominated for the same award but lost to Kane.
Meanwhile, with three wins from their four league games, Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta was named Premier League’s Manager of the Month. The Gunners only failed to beat Liverpool during March while recording victories over Watford (3-2), Leicester City (2-0), and Aston Villa (1-0) – results that helped the team continue its march upwards and later consolidate their position in the top four.
This was Arteta’s second win in the competition. The Spaniard was also named the Manager of the Month earlier this season in September.
Arteta beat Leicester City’s Brendan Rodgers, Tottenham’s Antonio Conte, Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp, and Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel to the award. Similar to Arteta, both Conte and Rodgers had a solitary blemish on an otherwise spotless record for March. However, neither Klopp nor Tuchel suffered a single loss in the three league games that their teams played over the same period.
The Reds did not concede a single goal while winning all three of their games against West Ham (1-0), Brighton (2-0), and Arsenal (2-0), respectively. Meanwhile, Chelsea enjoyed heavy wins over Burnley (4-0) and Norwich (3-1) and one for which they had to work hard against Newcastle (1-0).
