Arsenal superstar Gabriel Martinelli has pledged his loyalty and commitment to the club. He has insisted that he would like to stay at the London-based club for the rest of his career and wants to do everything he can in order to ensure major silverware for the club in the future.
Gabriel Martinelli had joined Arsenal in the summer transfer window of 2019 from Brazilian club Ituano. Since then, he has gone from strength to strength and has become one of several young stars alongside Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe who are trying to usher in a new era of glory for Arsenal.
Martinelli believes that this new generation of players can accomplish special things and lead the club to new heights. He also outlined Arsenal’s ambitions in the near future, which includes regular Champions League football.
“We have a young group, we have a lot of time ahead of us, players with a lot of quality, I think we will achieve great things,”
“Our focus is the Champions League. Fighting for that top four. A club like Arsenal has to be in the Champions League. It’s our total focus.
“We always want more. Of course, Arsenal are a giant team. If I can, I’ll stay here my whole life. I want to conquer things, as I said, I want to stay here and win titles, with these wonderful fans, my team-mates.”
he told ESPN Brazil.
Martinelli has experienced his fair share of highs and lows since arriving to the club as an unknown teenager in 2019. He was quick to attract attention when he scored on his League Cup debut under Unai Emery and went on to stamp his mark with goals at Anfield and Stamford Bridge.
However, a six-month knee injury regulated him to the sidelines during the pandemic but the frustrating spell on the bench was followed by Olympic glory with Brazil at the Tokyo Olympics. The 20-year-old has opened up on adjusting to life at Arsenal.
“It was a giant leap for me. I was at Ituano, I lived in Itu, and I came to play at Arsenal, living in London. It was a little complicated, but my family was always with me, they always helped me at all times, off and on the pitch as well.
“At the club, I always had [Emiliano Martinez’s] support as well. He helped a lot, he always helped me. His wife speaks Portuguese, so does he. He was very important to me, he helped me adapt to the club, to the country.
“With my family here, it became a little easier. But it was a big leap, it was just a bit of a good one,” said Martinelli.
