UP Yoddhas lost their fourth consecutive game in the Vivo Pro Kabaddi League season 8 on the fourth day of the rivalry week. Yoddhas, who had won their last game against the Pirates by just a solitary point, lost their game on Wednesday by two points, 37-35.
Patna’s defence and offence played in sync as in the absence of Monu Goyat, Sachin took the initiative and scored a super 10. Mohammadreza Chiyaneh scored a High 5 to ensure Patna a victory.
Surinder Gill was once again the shining light for the Yoddhas as he completed his sixth Super 10 of the season. Shrikant Jhadav also contributed with nine raid points. In defence, only Nitesh Kumar displayed some fight as he got three tackle points.
The most surprising aspect of the game was that Pardeep Narwal didn’t start in the playing seven. He wasn’t even sent in as sub, when the Yoddhas had the opportunity instead a young raider in Sahil was sent in as substitute twice.
Pardeep only came into play when the Yoddhas were trailing the Pirates in the last three minutes of the game. Pardeep got multiple points in a single raid, but that wasn’t enough for the Yoddhas to close in on the gap.
The Pirates are now third on the points table with 50 points from 14 games, while Yoddhas sit at the sixth position.
In the Maharashtra derby, Puneri Paltan came on top of their neighbours U Mumba, 36-34. They have now beaten Mumba twice in the season.
The stars of Paltan once again were Aslam Inamdar and Mohit Goyat. Goyat got nine raid points while Inamdar got 7 raid points. Abinesh, meanwhile, scored a High 5 in defence.
For Mumba, it was their defence who disappointed as they were engaged in 16 unsuccessful tackles. Rinku got four tackle points, but that wasn’t enough to stop the Paltan raiders.
In the raiding department, the Mumba raiders did well, as Ajith completed his Super 10, and Abhishek supported him well by contributing eight raid points.
After their second win over Mumba this season, Pune now have 42 points from 15 matches, and they sit in the seventh spot. Mumba, on the other hand, are now at the fourth position with 43 points from 15 fixtures.
