The Reds are closing in on the signing of Porto attacker Luis Diaz, who has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur in recent days, reports The Telegraph.
As per the reports, Liverpool are closing in on an agreement with Porto around a figure of 60 million euros – significantly lower than Diaz’s release clause, which stands at 80 million. The rumoured fee also contains add-ons, which will reportedly split the cost between 45 million upfront and 15 million in variables.
Diaz, 25, has been one of Porto’s standout performers this season with 14 goals in 18 league games, and is on course to become Liverpool’s second signing of the summer after Ibrahima Konate, who arrived from RB Leipzig in the summer.
As Jurgen Klopp and his staff chase Diaz, there are players at home attracting the attention of clubs around Europe. Japan international Takumi Minamino is of interest to Leeds United and AS Monaco.
The attacker signed for Liverpool from RB Salzburg two years ago and spent the latter half of the previous season on loan at Southampton. He has remained on the periphery of the first team throughout his time at the club but, according to Sky, will only be allowed to leave if a considerable offer comes in.
Divock Origi has been more involved with the first team than Minamino, with Klopp often turning to him for an impact off the bench. The Belgian has been influential in intervals during his time at the club – case in point, his crucial goals for Liverpool in the semi-final and final of their Champions League winning run in 2019.
However, his future might lie elsewhere, with Atalanta interested in his services. La Dea have identified the Belgian as a replacement for Newcastle United-linked Duvan Zapata and could attempt to bring him in before the end of the transfer window, should things go a certain way.
