The Pro Kabaddi League season 8 is already in its second half. The first game of the second part saw the Bengaluru Bulls claiming victory over Puneri Paltan 37-35. The match wasn’t as close as the end result might display, thought.
Pawan Kumar tried his best to win the game for the Bulls as he scored his 10th Super 10 of the season, but he got absolutely no support from his teammates. Once he got out, his teammates could not revive him on time, which meant that the Bulls got all-out twice.
For Paltan it was young all-rounder Mohit Goyat who was the star. He not only completed his third Super 10 but also contributed three tackle points. His performance made all the difference in the end.
Even with this victory, Puneri Paltan are still at 11th position on the points table, and the Bulls still haven’t been displaced from their second spot.
Telugu Titans went into the game against U Mumba with a lot of confidence after they registered their first win of the season in their last game.
But a lacklustre performance from their defence against Mumba means they are back to losing games. In a clinical display of Kabaddi, U Mumba managed to beat the Titans by 42-35.
Mumba’s fans must be happy with the result as not only their team won, but Fazel Atrachali also got his form back as he scored his first high five of the season. In the raiding department, Abhishek Singh yet again scored a Super 10.
Adarsh T has been playing as a defender, but his performance as a raider in the last game saw the Titans register their first win. Hence it was quite unexpected when he wasn’t used for raiding as much in the second half.
With this win Mumba, are now placed fifth on the points table, whereas Titans are still at the bottom and can now only hope to qualify for the playoffs if something drastic happens in the league going forward.
Tamil Thailavas, meanwhile, played their sixth tie of the season against the Jaipur Pink Panthers. TT were leading 20-18 at the end of the first half. But at the end of 40 minutes, both teams were tied at 34-34. The game didn’t see a lot of tackle points as the combined tackle points by both the teams were just 10.
The raiders of both teams were on fire on Saturday. Arjun Deswal scored yet another Super 10 as he ended the game with 15 raid points. For the Thailavas, Manjeet and Ajinkya Pawar scored Super 10s as well, but that too was not enough for the Thailavas to register their fourth win this campaign.
These tied games might end up costing the Thailavas a place in the Playoffs. Right now, they stand at the eighth position with 34 points, and the Panthers are just above them on 35 points.
