The three-time defending Pro Kabaddi League champions have had a great start to season 8 of the tournament. They have been able to maintain their place in the top 3 at the points table. But after their 29-32 loss to Dabang Delhi on January 18 the franchise seem to have gone missing from the league, literally.
Patna Pirates were supposed to play their next game against Bengaluru Bulls on January 20, but the Bengaluru-based franchise instead faced Bengal Warriors.
The Pro Kabaddi League official social media handles had revealed a day before that,
“Mashal sports, organisers of the league, along with the management of the Patna Pirates have decided to reschedule their match no 67 against Bengaluru Bulls.
The match will now be played between Bengaluru Bulls and Bengal Warriors on January 20 2022. Patna Pirates’ fixture will be rescheduled to a later date.”
The update didn’t carry any reason for the cancellation of the game. When the game against the Bulls were rescheduled, fans thought it was because of a number of injuries in the Patna camp, as the likes of Monu Goyat, Sunil and Sajin had gotten injured during their initial matches.
But the league social media handles yesterday again posted a similar notification, revealing that Patna’s fixture against Puneri Paltan has also been rescheduled. This now begs the question as to what exactly has happened to the Pirates’.
There has not been any official update from the franchise itself, and the league has also not revealed any reason.
It would be interesting to see if Pirates next fixture is also rescheduled, which as of now is scheduled against Telugu Titans on January 25.
