In another action-packed evening of the Pro Kabaddi League 8, the UP Yoddhas emerged victorious against the Puneri Paltan, whereas the Telugu Titans continued to struggle, losing a close contest to the Bengal Warriors.
UP Yoddhas registered their second consecutive win of the season by beating Puneri Paltan by 50-40. Yoddhas have won three games out of their last four, with one resulting in a draw (36-36 vs Haryana Steelers).
Pardeep Narwal made a super raid (3 points) in the very first raid of the match. But that didn’t dither Puneri Paltan from giving the Yoddhas an all out within the first eight minutes of the game.
The match was closely contested as raiders from both sides continued to rack up points. There was nothing to distinguish between both the teams at the half-time as it ended at 20-20.
In the second half, though, Yoddhas came all guns blazing and gave two all outs to Paltan. The main architect of Yoddhas’ aggressive performance in the second period was Surinder Gill, who not only brought his fourth Super 10 of the season but also scored three multi-point raids consecutively.
He ended the game with 21 raid points, achieving his highest feat in his Pro Kabaddi League career. He was supported by Pardeep Narwal as he too brought up his second consecutive super 10 of the season.
Paltan’s defence couldn’t perform as per expectations as they could only get six points in total. Aslam Inamdar and Mohit Goyat, both of whom got their Super 10s, tried their best to close the gap between the two sides in the end, but they weren’t successful.
For UP, Nitesh found some form in defence as he scored four tackle points. The most successful defenders for Puneri Paltan were Mohit Goyat and Vishal Bhardwaj, both of whom scored two tackle points each. As a result, UP Yoddha rose up to the fourth spot in the points table and Paltan dropped down to the 10th.
Telugu Titans still winless after as Bengal Warriors clinch victory
The 61st game of the season between Bengal Warriors and Telugu Titans ended on a thrilling note. The Warriors made a brilliant comeback in the dying stages of the game to win the match against the Titans 28-27. They inflicted an all out in the last two minutes, which made all the difference in the end.
The two teams were almost inseparable for the most part of the game. In the raiding department, BW scored only one more point than the Telugu Titans. Bengal scored 16 raid points while Titans managed 15 raid points.
In defence, though, the Titans scored two more points than the opposition. While the Titans earned 10 tackle points, Warriors could only manage eight.
Maninder Singh was once again the star for the Warriors as he brought his ninth consecutive Super 10 of the season. For the Titans, Rajneesh scored the most raid points (11).
Ran Singh scored the most tackle points (4) for the Warriors in defence, while for the Titans, it was Sandeep Khandola who got the same number of tackle points as well. The Titans are yet to claim a single victory this campaign while the defending champions now stand at seventh position.
