The Bengal Warriors succeeded in ending the Tamil Thalaivas six-match unbeaten streak on Thursday evening, whereas U Mumba were completely humiliated by Puneri Paltan.
Defending champions Bengal Warriors made an excellent comeback this season as they defeated an in-form Tamil Thalaivas by a 37-28 scoreline.
The Warriors dominated the match right from the beginning and maintained the same intensity throughout the match.
Maninder Singh was their star performer as he scored 12 raid points, including eight touchpoints and four bonus points. The skipper got great support from defenders Amit Nirwal and Ran Singh as they scored five and four points in defence, respectively.
The Thalaivas were equally good in defence, but they were not as successful in raids as the Warriors. Manjeet was the only player who earned eight raid points for them whereas there was no contribution in raids from other players. Each of Surjeet Singh and Bhavani Rajput scored five in defence each, but that was still not enough to reduce the deficit.
U Mumba taken down by Puneri Paltan
The second game of the evening turned out to be a completely one-sided affair as the Puneri Paltan decimated U Mumba by a 19-point margin.
The Paltan raiders completely destroyed the U Mumba defence. Nitin Tomar was the highest scorer for Puneri Paltan as he scored nine points, including four raid points, four tackle ones and one bonus point.
Aslam Inamdar and Mohit Goyat did well in raid as well, scoring seven and five points, respectively. They were supported well in defence by Vishal Bhardwaj and Abinesh Nadarajan.
As far as things for U Mumba go, they did well in raids with as many as four players scoring from it. Rahul Sethpal scored five points, and Abhishek Singh earned four.
Ashish Kumar and Mohsen Maghsoudlou chipped in with three points each as well. But their scoresheet was pretty much empty apart from that and that’s why they ended up losing by such a big margin.
