Ajinkya Pawar stole the show in the Tamil Thalaivas win against Puneri Paltan, whereas Monu Goyat’s brilliance powered the Patna Pirates to a comprehensive win against the Bengal Warriors.
The Tamil Thalaivas registered their first win of this Pro Kabaddi League 8 on December 31 as they defeated the Puneri Paltan comfortably by a 36-26 scoreline. It was the performance of substitute Pawar that became the highlight of the match. Ajunkya absolutely destroyed the opposition’s defence as he scored 11 points in nine raids.
It seemed like he had all his escape routes well planned, and he acted like a live wire to execute them perfectly during his raids. The Thalaivas also made a blazing start in the match. It was Manjeet who set the tone for the Thalaivas initially with his raids. He was the second-highest scorer for the team at the end of the match earning eight points from five raids. Defender Surjeet Singh played a pivotal role in the defence too, as he executed some sensational blocks.
The Puneri Paltan did make a comeback in the game through Pankaj Mohite, who scored eight points of five raids. They were just one point behind the Thalaivas at one point in the game, but Pawar’s arrival changed the complexion of the match completely. He proved to be absolutely unstoppable as he completely destroyed the Paltan’s defence and powered the Thalaivas to a much-needed win.

Monu Goyat’s rampage leaves the Bengal Warriors stunned
In the other game, the Patna Pirates came from behind to defeat the Bengal Warriors 44-30. Monu Goyat scored seven points in a single raid and collected 15 points overall in the fixture to guide his side to a victory.
The Warriors had a healthy lead in the game at one point, with the scoreline reading 16-10. Maninder Singh increased that lead to eight points when he completed his Super 10 for Bengal. That was a very healthy lead to have at the halfway stage in the match, but Goyat changed the complexion of the game completely.
Apart from Goyat, Sachin Tanwar has also been tremendous as he scored nine points from seven raids. The duo absolutely destroyed the Bengal defence, who failed to find enough support in raids. No other Bengal player made even a single raid apart from Maninder Singh’s 15 points from 10 raids.
The result of this match helped the Patna Pirates to rise up to the second position in the table whereas the Bengal Warriors dropped to the eighth place.
