The Patna Pirates took on Puneri Paltan in the first game of matchday 7 as they dominated their opponents in Puneri Paltan to score the biggest margin of this season, taking them to second place on the points table with 11 points to their name.
Patna were trailing early in the match, but a three-point raid by Monu Goyat, as he baited three defenders into following him into the lobby without any struggle giving his side three technical points, turned the tide of the game in favor of the Patna Pirates.
Puneri Paltan will be disappointed as their major attacking raiders in Rahul Chaudhari and Nitin Tomar have been devoid of form, and this could increase troubles for the team management. Pune, with the loss, has now slipped to the bottom of the points table with just five points to their name and a raid point difference of -22, which will surely haunt the management.
The Pirates have shown that they are a very capable side despite the absence of Pardeep Narwal, who moved to UP Yoddha at this year’s auction. Monu Goyat, Sachin, and Prashant Kumar Rai have all emerged as key players for Patna in their three games. Mohammadreza Chiyaneh, who is playing his first season in the league, has been lethal in defence and has proved to be a great addition to the Pirates.
Haryana Steelers beat Telugu Titans 37-39 to post their first win
After a very slow start to the campaign, Haryana Steelers have registered their first victory of the season as they defeated Telugu Titans in the final fixture of game week 1. Both teams were neck-to-neck for the majority of the game, but it were the Steelers who ran away with the game in the closing minutes.
Meetu Mahender and Rohit Gulia were brilliant in the offense for their side as the duo scored a total of twenty raid points in the absence of skipper Vikash Kandola who took a reserved approach tonight. The Steelers will be very happy with their defensive unit as Surinder Nada, Ravi Kumar and Mohit continue to rack up points for the team.
The Titans will have to find a way out to avoid relying on Siddharth Desai for their games. Other than him, no other raider in the TT camp has been remarkable so far, with skipper Rohit Kumar being substituted out of the fixtures in all three appearances.
The team management will have to find a way out of the issue, or this season could turn out to be another disappointment for the fans and the franchise.
