Alvaro Morata got them going by being in the right spot at the right time, as Luca Pellegrini’s cross fell right in his path in the six-yard box, and he turned it into the goal. Juan Cuadrado came close to adding a second late into first-half stoppage time, but his shot was just wide.
Venezia upped the ante in the second half and got a deserved equalizer from Mattia Aramu. He curled it past Wojciech Szczesny from the edge of the box, and his goal, as it turned out, ended their losing streak and won the side a crucial point.
Manolo Gabbiadini opened the scoring for Sampdoria against Genoa, and the side managed to see that lead through the first half. Fransesco Caputo doubled the lead immediately in the second 45 before Zinho Vanhuesden’s own goal made it 3 to the visiting unit.
Emil Audero, however, was denied of a cleansheet as Mattia Destro got a complimentary goal for the hosts, and the game at the Luigi Ferraris finished 1-3.
Dusan Vlahovic continued his superb goal-scoring streak in Serie A, making it 32 in 2021 for the Serbian forward. Fiorentina took the lead against Salernitana, with Giacomo Bonaventura scoring in the first half. Vlahovic’s exploits kick-started in the second 45, when he fired a goal from outside the box in the 51st minute and added another to his tally in the 84th minute.
Moroccan youngster Yousuf Maleh made it four for the hosts in Firenze, as Fiorentina managed to sneak into the Europa League spot, also eclipsing Juventus momentarily.
The big game on Saturday involved Udinese and AC Milan, with the latter desperate to steer further away from Inter Milan. Beto opened the scoring for Udinese lapsing on a mistake from Tiemoue Bakayoko, and despite Mike Maignan making a save, the rebound was tapped home. They defended deep and brave did the hosts.
With the game running away, in stoppage time, and the senior pro Zlatan Ibrahimovic provided an acrobatic finish. After a cross was cleared by Perez, Zlatan met the loose ball with a scissor kick to make it 1-1, earning a crucial point for the side. Inter Milan now have a chance to go top of the table if they can get the better of Cagliari on Sunday.
