Affected by the contagious virus, former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir had hoped to recover as soon as possible. Now, with a recovery out of the way, he has decided to return to the Bangla Tigers camp and will be taking part in the fifth edition of the competition.

The news on Amir was confirmed by the Bangla Tigers’ official Twitter handle as the bowler joined the squad on November 23 and had his first practise session with the rest of the group.

Bangla Tigers are placed at fourth in the six-team tournament points table, winning two and losing two of their four games. They will play their next league game on November 25 against the Deccan Gladiators in Abu Dhabi. Amir’s return is expected to boost the side’s chances of securing a berth in the playoffs.

Amir, who retired from international cricket for Pakistan last year, will then travel across to Sri Lanka for the second edition of the Lanka Premier League T20.

Amir boasts of a fantastic domestic T20 record with 235 wickets from 208 T20s with an economy rate of 7.17. He turned out in 50 T20Is for Pakistan and picked up 59 wickets while conceding only 7.02 rpo.

Since last year, there has been an air of speculation around Amir’s Pakistan career as the pacer has hinted from time to time that he is willing to come out of his retirement provided all his concerns are addressed.

Those problems relate to his issues with the Pakistan administration and the alleged indifferential treatment handed out to him by the team management, namely former head coach Mishab-ul-Haq and ex-bowling coach Waqar Younis.
