The most successful team in the history of the Indian Super League, ATK Mohun Bagan, have been a stellar force in the tournament right from the opening game of the tournament. They are a consistent presence at the business end of the tournament, always fighting for top honours and making business calls that are worthy of putting them in the top tier.
How do things stack up for ATKMB this time?
They are as star-studded as ever in the current edition of the ISL. Having missed out on the league shield and also the ISL trophy to Mumbai City FC quite narrowly last season, they are desperate to make it count in the 2021/22 edition, and it would come as no surprise if they go all the way.
Antonio Habas, who has constantly been the face of their success, is eager to lead them on the same path once again, and has made some terrific signings for them to make a strong case in the competition this edition. Mohun Bagan are yet to lay hands on a trophy after a high-profile merger between Atletico de Kolkata and the iconic Mohun Bagan, and once again, all eyes will be on these men to see how far they go.
Their attack seems pretty packed up front with Roy Krishna and David Williams, and joining them is Hugo Boumous from Mumbai City, making Habas’ unit even more lethal going forward. There is a good chance they could score the most number of goals in the tournament this season.
They did not have the finest of outings in the AFC Cup, which could play a role in the first few games of the new season, but once things get started in Goa, they could hit top gear right from the get go. They will kick-off the tournament against a side with whom they played two ISL finals in the past. The Mariners will be up against Kerala Blasters.
ATKMB transfers for 2021/22
Easily they have had one of the most stellar transfer windows among all the ISL sides, roping in some top-class names from rival sides to go with some fine young talents like Liston Colaco. Liston impressed everyone during his tenure with Hyderabad FC, despite not scoring aplenty. His move to ATKMB is expected to give him much more freedom to work his magic around quality players.
Another big signing they have made this season is getting the signature of one of Mumbai City’s star players last season, Hugo Boumous. Boumous made 10 goal contributions for Mumbai last season and was a massive presence in their midfield. Another player from the defending champions making their way to Kolkata is Amrinder Singh, the star goalkeeper for Mumbai last year.
A couple of young defensive midfielders in Deepak Tangri and Ricky John Shabong, who are hailed as two massive prospects in Indian football, are expected to be in the long-term project of this unit.

Prediction for 2021/22
Antonio Habas is known for churning out good results consistently, and over the years he has established himself as the most tactically astute manager in the ISL. With the calibre of players under his belt this edition, a top two finish in the league stage looks certain.
They missed out on the ISL shield narrowly last season and will certainly look to seal it this time. Even if they miss on the Shield somehow once again, they have the depth and quality in their squad to go all the way and win the title.
