Reigning Bundesliga champions are interested in Ajax attacker Antony Dos Santos and RB Leipzig midfielder Christopher Nkunku as per reports. The Bavarians are looking to reinforce their ageing attack after a disappointing summer window.
Bayern Munich’s splendid start to the new season has managed to divert attention from a disastrous summer window, at least for now. The Bavarians managed to get just two deals over the line, one to bring Dayot Upamecano in from RB Leipzig – which they had agreed to in the latter stages of the previous season – and another to sign his teammate Marcel Sabitzer.
Nonetheless, reports claim that the German giants could dip in the market again in the future as they look for attacking reinforcements. In particular, they are interested in AFC Ajax’s attacker Antony. The Bavarians’ links to the Brazilian winger go as far back as the previous season when the youngster was impressing viewers at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
Antony scored 10 goals in 46 appearances in the 2020/21 season – his first in Europe – and has started the new campaign in sensational form. The 21-year-old laid three assists on the opening group matchday of the UEFA Champions League, as Ajax beat Sporting CP 5-1.
Antony is understood to be valued at 40 million euros and is also attracting interest from Barcelona. However, Bayern are said to be in a better financial position than the Catalans.
Bayern are also said to be interested in RB Leipzig’s all-action attacking midfielder, Christopher Nkunku. Fichajes reports that the club aren’t the only team keeping a close eye on Nkunku. The 23-year-old is being watched by his former club Paris Saint-Germain, as well as Manchester City.
The Frenchman scored a hattrick against City in a 6-3 defeat on the opening matchday of the Champions League. He has scored three more goals this season, two of which have come in the league, bringing his tally to six in eight appearances.
Nkunku moved to Leipzig ahead of the 2019/20 season and has scored 18 goals in 92 appearances whilst playing in several positions across the frontline and midfield.
