Romelu Lukaku had a flawless campaign last season, guiding Inter Milan to a historic Serie A title. Therefore Chelsea decided to break the bank for the Belgian for a transfer fee of £98 million from the Nerrazurri.
The Belgian marksman is returning to Stamford Bridge for a second stint and has already hit the ground running with three goals from three matches in the Premier League.
Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole believes that Lukaku has it in him to replicate the heroics of Didier Drogba and guide the Blues to domestic and continental glory.
“Lukaku is of that ilk. He’s got a little way to go before he can be put in that bracket, for me, but he’s certainly got the ability to get there“.
he was quited as saying by Goal.com.
Cole also believes that adding Lukaku to the team has added a new dimension to the Blues. He feels that the forward will allow the likes of Kai Havertz, Timo Werner or even Christian Pulisic to up their game.
“You love it as an attacking midfielder or wide player, having someone like him. He’s got everything. If you put a cross in from deep, he can win it and score from it. His movement is good. He’s come back as the complete package. I’d love to have played with him, I can tell you!”
On Tuesday night, Lukaku’s goal secured Chelsea a victory in the Champions League opener against Russian outfit Zenit Saint Petersburg (1-0). Cole has high ambitions from the Blues as he feels that Tuchel has the team to defend the Champions League title. Only Real Madrid have managed to defend their title in the Champions League era.
