South Africa Cricket have named squads for the ODI and T20I series in Sri Lanka. The ODI contingent comprises 18 cricketers, while the T20I squad has 19. The ODI squad doesn’t feature the names of Quinton de Kock, David Miller and Lungi Ngidi.
De Kock has been given a break and has been rested for the three-match ODI series, whereas Miller is recovering from a hamstring injury, and Ngidi has opted out due to ‘personal reasons‘. However, the trio will return for the T20I series.
Dwaine Pretorius makes a comeback into the side after recovering from COVID-19. The virus ruled the 32-year-old out of the tours of the Caribbean and Ireland.
Bjorn Fortuin, who was on the trip to Ireland, has been left out as well. Junior Dala has been added to the ODI squad. Meanwhile, Andile Phehlukwayo has been left out of the T20I squad.
The tour kicks off with the three-match ODI series, which is scheduled to start on the 2nd of September. The three ODIs are a part of the ICC WC Super League. SA and Sri Lanka are 10th and 11th respectively and will be aiming for some crucial points. The T20I series kicks off on the 10th of September.
T20I series will be South Africa’s last international assignment before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which will start in October.
