The Bayern Munich striker has scored 288 goals in 325 games for the Bavarians since joining in 2014, but remains reluctant to speculate on his future at the club.
Robert Lewandowski has expressed his wish to “play for at least another five years” for Bayern Munich. The Polish striker has netted 42 times in just 36 games this season and has a contract at the Allianz Arena till 2023. But in a recent interview he revealed his desire to continue playing further.
“I haven’t really thought about what will happen in three or four years. But I want to play for at least another five years. Maybe longer if I can.
At the moment I’m in Munich, playing in the best team in the world, having fun with my team-mates and feeling very good here.
I want to play football at the top level for a longer period of time. My contract with FC Bayern still has two years left, so I don’t think you need to think about that.”
the 32-year-old striker said in an interview with GQ.
The prolific centre-forward has been in a staggering form once again this year until a knee injury in March sidelined him for six weeks. The 32-year-old missed six games in all competitions thus far and is expected to start from the bench against Mainz on Saturday.
The Polish international has 35 league goals in only 25 appearances, and with four matches still remaining this season, he is being tipped as favorite to break Gerd Müller’s record of 40 goals from the 1971-72 season.
Following the 2-0 home victory over Bayer, the Munich side now need just a single victory in their remaining games to lift their ninth consecutive Bundesliga title.
