What comes as good news for cricket lovers across the country, the 2021 edition of Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is set to start from June 4. To ensure the safety of everyone involved in the league, the tournament will be played in a safe bio-bubble.
While the second wave of coronavirus pandemic is wreaking havoc in India, it has been decided that the 2021 edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League will take place from 4th June 2021. According to reports, BCCI has granted permission to conduct the TNPL in a safe bio-secure environment.
RS Ramasaamy, the secretary of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association confirmed that the BCCI has granted approval for conducting the TNPL. Ramasaamy claimed that the TNCA is glad that BCCI has given a green signal for conducting the tournament.
He said that after getting the required approval from the Tamil Nadu Government, the tournament will start on 4th June 2021 at Tirunelveli and the final of the marquee tournament will be played on 4th July in Salem.

said Ramasaamy.
He further claimed that the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) will follow all the necessary procedures of the bubble, and regular testing of the players will also be done to ensure complete safety. Ramasaamy also claimed that all the quarantine rules that are being followed by the BCCI for the international matches, domestic matches and IPL will be followed in the TNPL as well.
The 2020 edition of TNPL was cancelled due to the dreadful coronavirus. While in the 2019 season, the Chepauk Super Gilles emerged as the winners. They defeated the Dindigul Dragons in the final by 12 runs to lift the coveted trophy.
The 2021 edition of the TNPL will be the 5th edition of the league and eight teams will battle against each other to get their hands on the trophy. The opening match of the tournament will be played between Tiruppur Tamizhans and Dindigul Dragons.
