In what feels like a repeat of last summer’s most drawn-out transfer saga, Borussia have – once again – rejected the Red Devils’ opening bid for Jadon Sancho. However, there is hope that an agreement can be reached soon.
Goal reports that United submitted a £67 million bid for the England international to test the waters. It was immediately rejected by the Bundesliga side, who are holding out for more.
Nonetheless, reports have claimed that BVB are much more flexible this summer and are prepared to let the player leave. Instead, they are focusing their efforts on keeping hold of star forward Erling Haaland, who is the subject of interest from Chelsea.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are also in the market for a right-back. England and Atletico Madrid star Kieran Trippier is said to be high on their list of targets as the club continues to look for a player to alternate with Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Several media outlets have claimed that the Red Devils will also attempt to bring in a new center-back to partner with Harry Maguire.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to add to his squad after leading United to a second-place finish in 2020/21. United finished behind rivals Manchester City in the table, albeit the gap between the two was 12 points.
The Red Devils also reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, the semi-finals of the League Cup, and the final of the Europa League. They were beaten by Villarreal on penalties in the latter.
