The Bangladesh Cricket Board has given the nod for a 20% hike in salary for its contracted women’s cricketers. Moreover, they will also get increased match fees.
According to Cricbuzz, the BCB women’s wing chairman Nadel Chowdhury confirmed the news and stated that the approval came in the last board meetingm, which was held on the 15th of June. The salary of the contracted women’s cricketers has seen a hike of 20%, and the new pay structure will kick in from the ongoing month.
“We have increased the salary of the women cricketers by 20 percent and they will receive their salary in the new pay scale from this month (July),“
Shafiul was quoted saying.
Besides this, they will now receive 300 USD as the match fees for one ODI and 150 USD for one T20I. Earlier, the ransom was 100 USD for an ODI and 75 USD for a T20I game.
“Earlier they (women cricketers) used to get 100 USD and 75 USD as match fees respectively for ODIs and T20Is,“
Shaiful explained.
Moreover, the BCB have decided to increase the number of centrally contracted women’s cricketers as well. They have handed out contracts to as many as 22 women’s cricketers. They have been divided into four categories – A, B, C, D.
After the 20% rise, the four categories will receive the following as salary – A category (BDT 60000), B category (BDT 48000), C category (BDT 36000) and D category (BDT 25000).
