On Friday, Christian Eriksen was pictured in Denmark being spotted in public for the first time since suffering a cardiac arrest while playing for his country at Euro 2020.
On Friday, a group of fans spotted Eriksen relaxing at the Tisvilde Strand beach in the northern part of Denmark. Bjorn Bindzus, who happened to be at the beach for an advertisement shoot, uploaded a picture of him and Eriksen on social media.
“We were at a photoshoot for a commercial when I suddenly saw him while we were having lunch. So I waited to ask him until he had finished talking to his girlfriend. And he said yes right away.
I was nervous and completely speechless when I had to ask about the picture. But I’m proud that I did it and I’m very happy today,”
Bindzus told Danish newspaper BT.
“I didn’t see the incident against Finland, but he looked healthy. It was really nice to see. I mostly watch football when the national team is playing, and here my favourite player is without a doubt Christian Eriksen. I’m proud of myself that I have that image,”
he further added.
Fans unanimously hope that such a horrific incident never happens again on a football pitch, while Eriksen’s fightback has certainly galvanized the Danish team as well.
On Saturday, they defeated the Czech Republic 2-1 in a quarter-final clash. Thomas Delaney and Kasper Dolberg were the goal-scorers for the Danes. Simon Kjaer & Co. will now take on England in a semi-final match, which will be played at Wembley on July 7.
